Dr. Julius Green I

PRESIDENT

Dr. Julius Green I is a native of Detroit, MI. He had a love of music, learning, and science at an early age. A survivor of childhood cancer, Dr. Green was fascinated by science and medicine and the good it can do for humanity. Dr. Green grew up singing in church, High School choirs, and citywide ensembles. After High School, Dr. Green traveled to Atlanta, GA to attend Morehouse College where he studied Chemistry and was a part of the world-renowned Morehouse College Glee Club. In 2003, the group recorded his TTBB arrangement of James Furman’s “Hehlehlooyuh” for their Witness CD.

After obtaining a B.S. in Chemistry from Morehouse College in 2003, Dr. Green joined corporate America serving in roles such as quality control chemist and research & development chemist. Dr. Green obtained a M.S. in Biochemistry from Georgia State University in 2008 while still working in corporate America. During this time, Dr. Green began volunteer outreach work for the Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Seeing the need for more engagement with minority students and minority professionals, he helped to restart the Georgia Section ACS Minority Affairs Committee and became active with the national ACS Committee on Minority Affairs. In 2014, Dr. Green obtained a Ph.D. in Medicinal Organic Chemistry from Georgia State University then moved to Washington, DC to continue work in education and advocacy for disadvantaged groups. He ended up serving as the first executive director of Empowerment Enterprise II (EE2) for four years, a community-based nonprofit serving youth in Wards 7 and 8 of DC. After reentering academia full-time in 2019 to serve a two-year appointment as a Visiting Scholar at Bentley University in the Boston area, Dr. Green moved to the state of New York where he currently works as Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry. Dr. Green still volunteers in areas of education, outreach, and youth advocacy throughout the country. Furthermore, his lab investigates strategies towards improving minority student outcomes in Chemical Education in addition to medicinal chemistry research.

 
 

Darryl! L.C. Moch

TREASURER

Darryl! L.C. Moch, a native of Los Angeles, California makes his home in Washington, DC, and is a single father, consultant, activist, advocate, performance artist, psychotherapist/life coach, and minister. Darryl!, is currently a doctoral student in Transformational Leadership at Concordia University.  Darryl!, serves as a Sr. Associate Minister at  Inner Light Ministries, UCC, and as Dean of Communities of Practice and the convener/Director of the Central Atlantic Mass Choir.

Darryl! is an award winning performer, director and choreographer having performed in theatres all across the United States. He became interested in performing at the age of two and began more formal education in the arts in elementary school. He graduated in the premier class of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, studied theatre at the Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble, studied dance with the R'Wanda Lewis Dance Ensemble, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Jean-Marc & Dafna Rathouse Baier, Joel Hall, Garth Fagan, and others.  He was part of the recording group New Testament Youth Troup and the first recorded Christian rap entitled "Gospel Rappin' ".  Darryl!, created the choreodramas Spheres Of Influence, God's Trombones: The Manifestation (and adaptation of the work by James Weldon Johnson), Phoenix Is Rising, Adolescence: Voices In My Head, A Symphony of People: In Our Own Words, and recently collaborated, directed and performed as Issac Myers in The Moment Was Now.   He was also recently seen in the stage production and film  "The "N"- word ..?".  His extensive background in theatre includes directing and performing in a variety of shows in over four decades.

He is the President/CEO of Innergy, Inc., a community based organization, and Darryl! Enterprises.  He is also currently Director of the Charm City Labor Chorus.  His work as an organizer has spanned the country. His passion and current work include arts and culture of the progressive community; creating opportunities that will empower, expose, and enlighten individuals and our collective communities. His art, activist, and advocacy work is rooted in social justice, equality, and quality of life issues for African-American/People of Color and minority communities, children, youth, families, LGBTQ/SGL constituencies, people living with mental and physical challenges, the homeless, as well as HIV/AIDS and other issues facing communities most disenfranchised by local, regional, and national political policies and laws.  He serves on several other local and national boards or committees, including the DC Department of Health Places of Worship Advisory Board and Project Healthy Living (The ManDate) an advisory board and group working to elevate the holistic health and wellness of Black Gay/Bi/Same Gender Loving men.  He is also a Chair of the DC Statehood Green Party and a co-chair of the National Black Caucus.

Darryl! has a BA in Performing Arts (Theatre and Dance) and Psychology (Clinical Counseling), a Masters of Education in Counseling, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre: Directing.  Darryl!’s motto: “Remember to live in Love and let LOVE live in you, around you, through you, and… AS you.”
